The institute sticks to combining education with science research, encouraging and instructing teachers to work over teaching theory, develop applicable technology, compose textbooks and teaching schedules and make teaching tools and multi-media courseware. This practice has strengthened the cooperation with enterprises and has widen the employment market for the students, meanwhile enhancing the teacher's ability for training the staff of enterprises and supplying technology for medium-small sized enterprises, forming a win-win situation between the institute and enterprises.

In recent years, the institute has developed 50 high-quality core courses and 36 sets of course textbooks focusing on “work-related learning” and “double-certificate exchange” cooperatively with some companies, which has led to a set of key programs and excellent courses. Currently, there are 2 national key programs, 4 provincial brand featured programs, 6 national excellent courses. The institute has won 24 above-provincial and ministry education and research achievement awards and 82 education and scientific research achievement awards out of the institute. The institute has published more than 20 sets of textbooks programmed by Ministry of Education, and has published more than 939 theses about the development of curriculums, putting it at the leading position of Jiangsu higher vocational colleges.

The Marketing Section, established in March, 2007, is responsible for the scientific and technological development and management, the cooperation between Institute and enterprises, social service, the management of research centers in all departments, adult education, and the assessment of technical proficiency. In April, 2008, the Section initiated the service center for the small and medium-sized enterprises in Wuxi. It has played an active role in the enhancement of the regulations and cooperation between the Institute and the enterprises. It offers the training and accreditation of 35 vocational qualifications such as Maintenance Electrician, CNC Machining, Automobile Maintenance, and so forth. During the academic year of 2006 ~ 2007, the Section has provided training for 5000 people, trained about 100 various technicians and had 2000 enrolment in adult diploma education, signed contracts of technological service with 7 corporations, and gained more than 30 patents.
